October 19, 2024Day 1-3: Varanasi (3 Nights)
- Day 1: Arrival in Varanasi
- Highlights: Arrive in Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world and a significant center for Hindu spirituality.
- In the evening, head to Dashashwamedh Ghat to witness the majestic Ganga Aarti, where the river is worshipped with lamps, chants, and music. It’s an unforgettable experience as the evening sky glows with oil lamps and devotees’ prayers.
- Day 2: Varanasi Exploration
- Begin your day with a boat ride on the Ganges River during sunrise, which offers stunning views of the ghats and the life surrounding the river.
- Visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the holiest Shiva temples in India. Explore nearby temples like Annapurna Temple and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple.
- Spend the afternoon exploring the narrow lanes of Varanasi, where you can shop for famous Banarasi silk sarees, handcrafted items, and indulge in local cuisine.
- In the evening, take a walk along the famous ghats such as Assi Ghat and Manikarnika Ghat, the latter being the main cremation ghat in the city.
- Day 3: Sarnath Excursion
- Day Trip to Sarnath: Located just 10 km from Varanasi, Sarnath is a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment.
- Visit the Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, and the Ashoka Pillar. Explore the Sarnath Archaeological Museum for a glimpse into the rich history and relics of this site.
- Return to Varanasi in the evening and spend time soaking in the city’s ambiance by the ghats.
Day 4: Travel to Ayodhya (1 Night)
- Travel to Ayodhya: After breakfast, depart for Ayodhya, about a 4-5 hour drive from Varanasi. Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Rama and holds immense religious significance.
- Highlights: Upon arrival, visit the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, the site believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama.
- Explore Hanuman Garhi, a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, located on a hill with panoramic views of Ayodhya.
- Stroll around Kanak Bhawan, another temple dedicated to Lord Rama and his wife, Sita, known for its intricate architecture.
- In the evening, visit the Sarayu River for a peaceful riverside experience and enjoy the evening Aarti.
Day 5-7: Return to Varanasi and Departure
- Day 5: Return to Varanasi from Ayodhya. Spend the evening revisiting any of the ghats or temples you may have missed. You can also explore Ramnagar Fort, situated on the eastern bank of the Ganges, which offers insights into Varanasi’s royal history.
- Day 6: Optional sightseeing around Varanasi. Explore nearby villages or take a day trip to Chunar Fort, known for its historical significance and panoramic views of the Ganges.
- Day 7: After a peaceful and immersive spiritual journey, depart from Varanasi for your onward destination.
